Ok,
I live in a shared student flat that came with a Thomson TV and a Gemini remote control. Last week the remote stopped working pointing no fingers
So I turned to Google expecting some simple search that would turn up a three or four digit code I’d type in and bingo the remote would work again. After a couple of searches I turned up the same set of results that talked about holding the RCL and ENT keys simultaneously until the red indicator turns on. These instructions are no good in this case because there there is no RCL key (see picture) the only distinguishing mark I can find asides from the brand is a sticker inside the battery compartment with the code CL033. I’ve seen questions on Yahoo answers and other such community ‘answer my question and I give you good doggy points’ sites where the wrong instructions have been repeated over and over again. Arrrgghh!

The Solution:
- Turn on the TV which you wish to set the Gemini remote to control.
- Press and hold the ‘code search’ button situated in the top left of the remote until the red LED stays on.
- Press the power button once and keep the remote pointed at the TV.
- The LED will flash each time it tries a new set of RF codes.
- When your TV goes into stand by then press the enter key on your remote.
- You’re set you should now be able to control your TV with the remote.
I tested this on the Thomson TV set in our lounge and my Samsung Monitor / TV and they both worked but that’s it. If you have a Gemini remote let me know if this worked for you.
Update 2008-06-15: Ed (Comment 41) found a link to a PDF file that appears to have codes for Gemini remote controls, although it doesn’t say anywhere in it that it is for Gemini remote controls it does mention the code search button and talks about controling VCRs, DVDs, Satelites and Cable so it might help those of you who get here looking for the information about the 4-in-1 Gemini remote controls.
I’ve copied the file to my domain and you can download it European Remote Control Codes

It does work with remote controls with C016 in the battery compartments. Thanks!
January 2nd, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Coralee,
Sorry to hear it didn’t work
Is it the ‘CL033′ remote you’re using? The only thing I can think of suggesting is to try and press enter quicker or maybe changing the batteries. Sometimes I have trouble with remotes when the batteries are running low. I hope you get it sorted.

I have a gemini 4 in 1 remote (not sure of the model number) and have just tried the routine you said and it worked perfectly. The only thing I had to do different was after holding the code button down and the code light staying on, I had to quickly press the button that correspoded to the equipment I was trying to set up (in this case the TV) other than that brill. Thanks mate you saved my ass just in time for the better half to watch eastenders! lol

January 5th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Oli,
Have you tried pressing one of the number keys instead of power? Sometimes TV sets dont come out of stand by by pressing power but will do when a number key is pressed. Hope this helps.
January 5th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
thanks for your responce. yes ive tried all the buttons lol. next stop the bin
January 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Sorry it didn’t work. I know I’m repeating myself but I’m a big believer in changing the batteries before acepting defeat. Have you tried that? Out of curiosity does your ‘CL018′ look like the ‘CL033′ in the post picture?

This info worked upto a point..
For all those that its not working for heres what I did.
Version 1 (I could turn on and off the tv but nothing else)
[Instructions that do not work removed by klkl for clarity]
Version 2
# Turn on the TV which you wish to set the Gemini remote to control.
# Press and hold the ‘code search’ button situated in the top left of the remote until the red LED stays on.
# Press the Channel UP Button repeatedly whilst keeping the remote pointed at the TV. (can take upto 300 presses)
# When your TV changes channel then press the MUTE key on your remote.
# You’re set you should now be able to control your TV with the remote..
Hope that helps all those having problems..

Hi Fred,
What remote control do you have? Is it like the one in the picture (CL033) or is it a different one? Could you tell us the make of the TV you were using it with also?
Thanks for the different method. My original instructions were to press the Enter key when your TV switches off not Mute like your comment said. Which button were you pressing?
Thanks

May 30th, 2008 at 7:05 pm
Chris:
I’ve never seen one of the 4-in-1 remotes so I’m not sure about any sort of reset button. Have you tried removing the batteries and then reinserting them?
May 31st, 2008 at 3:15 pm
Thanks Fred your version worked for me I used mute instead of enter and it worked.
June 15th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
For the 4-in-1 unit try this…
1. Turn on the unit (TV, Video, DVD, SAT) which you wish to set the Gemini remote to control.
2. Press and hold the particular unit button, the red light will then go off.
3. Press and hold the ‘code search’ button situated in the top left of the remote until the red LED stays on.
4. Press the power button once and keep the remote pointed at the unit.
5. The LED will flash each time it tries a new set of RF codes.
6. When your unit goes into stand by then press the enter key on your remote.
7. The Gemini remote should now be able to control your unit.

I tried to follow these directions for the Gemini 4-in-1 remote control to no avail. However, miraculously, I managed to actually find the instruction leaflet hiding in an old box! The following instructions are quoted verbatim from the horse’s mouth:
* Direct code entry:
1) Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the red indicator stays on, then release the CODE SEARCH button.
2) Press and release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3) Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables *[SEE PDF DOWNLOAD AT TOP OF PAGE]*. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4) With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your equipment, try one of the other codes for your brand.
* Code Search:
If your product does not respond after you have tried all the codes for your brand, or if your brand is not listed, try searching for your code by following these steps.
1) Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
2) Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button until the red indicator stays on, then release the CODE SEARCH button.
3) Press and quickly release the desired mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks off once.
4) Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks off with each button press. If you accidentally overshoot the code required, press the CHANNEL DOWN button to backtrack through the library until the device changes channel. Pressing CHANNEL UP changes direction to forward again.
5) Press and release MUTE to install the code.
Note: If the device does not have a CHANNEL UP button, use PLAY (VCR only) or POWER instead. Code Search starts from the currently stored 4 digit number under that mode.

I hope this helps somebody!

Thanks - so frustrated I couldn’t get my Gemini remote to work after replacing the batteries. Your solution worked perfectly with my Toshiba TV. One comment - you must be quick to press the enter button after the TV goes into standby. It didn’t work the first twice I tried then realised I needed to be quicker pressing the enter button. Works perfectly - thanks for the advice
