If you like risk then you’ll probably already have come accross the java version written by Yura Mamyrin. If you havent well its a java implementation of the classic board game Risk where the objective of the game is to conqueror territories to achieve an objective, either world domination or some other mission, as well as these great features:
- It is multiplatform unlike Risk II which is windows only but is also very good
- You can easily create your own custom maps
- There is a neat network play feature for long distance domination
- Its free
I installed it on my mac mini and it created a risk folder in my applications folder but I couldn’t get it to go into the dock. So I decided to package it into a .app directory using jar bundler (included in the mac development tools) and used an image from the package as the icon (see above). Now I can launch my favourite game of world domination right from the dock whenever I’m feeling manical
You can download it here: jRisk packaged for Mac
I’ve only tested it on Leopard so I’d appreciate hearing from you if it does or doesn’t work for you or hey even if you just fancy some network risk fun.

Thanks that’s a really cool game, I scored 6.00. This is only the last post in the games category not the whole blog.
The woodworking aspects of the site are REALLY interesting too
